European House of Culture was launched on 27 September in Brussels in the Flagey building, which also hosts the ENCATC Brussels office as well as other cultural organisations.
The mission of the
European House of Culture is to serve the building of the ground for strong advocacy for the place of culture in Europe. In particular, the House for Culture aims to facilitate the existence of a physical working-meeting-place for the cultural sector in Brussels as well as the collaboration and synergies between cultural and civil society networks and actors in Europe. It wants to add value to the operational results of synergies within the cultural sector and thus support their influence at the political level.
A further objective is the support and development of initiatives that improve the quality of cultural activities in Europe.
Alongside ENCATC, further associate partners of the
European House of Culture are: the European Festival Association, A soul for Europe, Culture Action Europe, the European Composers’ Forum, the European Composer & Songwriter Alliance, the Euro-Mediterranean and International Research, the Felix Meritis Foundation, the International Society for the Performing Arts and the Fondation Marcel Hicter.
The
European House of Culture also serves as the Secretariat for the European platform "Access to Culture".
